🚗 From Roanoke, VA (about 45 minutes): Start on US-220 S out of Roanoke. Turn left onto VA-122 S (Booker T. Washington Highway) in Rocky Mount. Continue on VA-122 for about 20 miles. Turn left onto VA-608 (White House Road). After about 7 miles, turn right onto VA-626 (Smith Mountain Lake Parkway). Turn left onto Deer Trail (you’ll see Mariners Landing signs). Take the ramp for US-1 N / Capital Blvd toward Wake Forest. Stay on US-1 N — this will take you all the way into Virginia (it becomes a nice highway with a mix of rural and small-town scenery). As you approach South Boston, VA, US-1 merges with US-501 N — follow signs for US-501 N toward Lynchburg. In Brookneal, VA, turn left onto VA-40 W. Follow VA-40 to VA-43 N, and take that toward Bedford, VA. Once in Bedford, take VA-122 S toward Smith Mountain Lake. After about 20 minutes, turn right onto VA-608 (White House Road).
